Not Me Monday!

This is so embarrassing, but I haven't done a Not Me post in a long time. So this is a culmination of all the things I did... ahem.. I mean didn't do.

Boy, I had an awesome trip to Texas. Let me tell you about it. Well, okay. I will some other time. But I will tell you that our (almost) favorite thing to do together is eat. We ate at Buffalo Wild Wings twice, Olive Garden, a great Mexican restaurant, and more. So, as soon as we arrived back at our hotel after eating a large supper, Mark did not look at me and announce, "I want to order pizza." I did not get a gleam in my eye and say GO AHEAD, BABY!!! :]

The pizza and wings came - oh, right.. I didn't mention that he ordered 10 chicken wings too.. - I was totally stuffed from my gigantic supper, so I wasn't hungry. Really. So when he opened the piping hot box of pepperoni pizza, and I did not dive into it like I'd never seen pizza in my life. Seriously... I do have self control. Plus, I try to eat healthy. And I definitely did not eat, like, 4 chicken wings. Nope!

Texas is a very, very hot state. It's also chuck full of gnats, just in case you were wondering. I did not give Mark a puppy dog face and whine about how thirsty I was. So when he asked, "Do you want me to go by some Dr. Pepper?" I did not hold him back. He did not wander around base for 30 minutes searching for an open store since it was Memorial Day weekend. I did not stay back at the hotel, lounging in the bed, and surfing the Internet. I would never make my husband roam around base looking for me a drink because water isn't good enough for me. Never, ever! I'm a good wife. Yep.

The last day I was there, I was able to meet Mark for breakfast AND lunch - what a treat! I woke up at 5am (the crack of dawn, in my world), and walked down the road by myself to meet him. I did the same around lunch time. I got there early, because I'm always unnecessarily early for everything, and waited around. I waited. And waited. And waited. For about 45 minutes. Mark's expected arrival time for lunch was about 30 minutes late. Ahem. I was extremely mad. I mean, that is crucial time there, folks. So he finally ran to me, literally, and explained that his teacher held the class over. We walked into the cafeteria, grabbed our trays, and stood in line. I was really annoyed, at this point, at his teacher. So, I did not look up at Mark, and say, "I hate the Air Force!" really loud so that everyone around us probably heard. That would be really childish of me. Plus, I definitely do not hate the Air Force. Definitely not.

Today I woke up with the idea of taking my big nephew to Jeffrey's. What, you've never heard of this store? Oh, that's because it's more commonly called Toys R Us. But he calls it Jeffrey's. Anyhow, we went there to get a slip & slide. Because, well, it's summer. And we need one. I found a really cool one - a Croc Chomp Slip & Slide. I stuck it under my arm lugged it through the store because it was so freakin heavy, and looked around at other toys. C was practically dying for 1 small trinket. I looked high and low, but, naturally, all the cool stuff was $10. Too much. So, to pacify my darling nephew, I did not take him up through the candy aisles and allow him to pick one pice of candy. I did not point out the Sponge Bob Ring Pop because I definitely hate Sponge Bob. Plus, kids don't need candy. And I am not one of those sucker aunts that falls for the cheap stuff near the checkout counter.

In other pathetically sad news, I have not been sick all day. Okay, okay, I have. I have had a headache since 9pm last night. I've tried everything to make it go away. But, to no avail, it is still pounding away. Argh! Headaches make me nauseous if I don't get rid of them soon. Blah.

Anyway.

So what have you not been doing this week? Or this month, if you're behind the times like me! Let us hear all about it.

And don't forget to hop on over to MckMama's blog and laugh about what she hasn't been doing.

imitators

they're watching you!
did you know?
they're watching your every move..
your attitude
the way you treat your spouse
how you spend your money
how you spend your free time
they're watching your reactions to bad circumstances
when you get mad
and when you're sad
they're imitating you
your every move
because they want to be just like you
I hope that scares you to death
because it should
you're responsible
so watch out
because they're imitating you!

Ephesians 5

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

a little bit of nothing.

I have this overbearing obsession with getting a new car. I know kind of what kind I want. It definitely cannot be 2 door. It cannot be white. It must be roomy. It must have good gas mileage. It must be safe! And, most importantly, it must be affordable.

So the Honda Fit Sport looks like a good contender. The front of it's kind of... ugly... but it's affordable.

My husband wants this car:

a VW GTI. Four door, of course!

okay okay, honestly he really really REALLY wants this car:

but we aren't made of money. and, sadly, money doesn't grow on trees.

well, while we're dreaming over here, I would really like to have one of these:

a delicious Subaru Forrester 2.5x Premium. yes please. This one's only $22k.. ahem.

Once we get to Langley, we are going to get the heck rid of sadly trade in Mark's old, dying good old, trusty Civic.

In between laying out at the beach, visiting Washington D.C., shopping til we drop, eating seafood by the seashore, and navigating our new area (which is three times the size of Nashville), we will be looking at cars. And we may buy one.

Today I am feeling pretty hopeless and lonely. It is hard to fathom that we still have 90 days to go. My life is truly lived in countdowns. I hate that. First it was a countdown until our wedding day. Then a countdown until Basic Training was over. Then a countdown until I see him - and a countdown to the end of tech school. Then it will be a countdown until I come home to visit, and eventually a countdown of other, more family-oriented things :)

I really should be living in the moment. But how can I?!

In other news, I am going to St. George Island in June with C, H, my big sis, and my brother-in-law. I'm going to take pictures til my camera falls apart! Well, let's hope that doesn't happen. Perhaps I should say - take pictures until my card is full. Or until my battery dies. Yeah. That.

I am 19 days away from my trip back to Texas, yall! We like to count that as 3 weekends. But, since today is practically Saturday, I am now counting it as TWO weekends to endure!

I have never wanted Summer to fly by like this before. It's almost a sin, I think. Sigh. Oh well. When my sister finally gets done with school, I'll come over to her house and swim in the pool. And maybe then time will fly. Let's hope so - for the sake of my sanity.

stolen!

I literally have nothing to blog about today. So why not steal an idea? Okay. Don't mind if I do.

1. What bill do you hate paying the most? I pay one bill: my cell phone bill. and I don't mind it. I love it. Bills won't start until September.

2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner? Olive Garden!

3. How many colleges did you attend? 1 so far... will be 2 - I'm unofficially going to Old Dominion!

4. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now? Because it makes me look like a gondola driver. You know, one of these dudes:

5. First thought when the alarm went off this morning? The alarm didn't go off. Summer's here!

6. Last thought before going to sleep last night? Praying for my marriage and life in general.

7. What do you miss being a child? running and never getting tired. and being able to eat whatever I wanted and not gaining an ounce.

8. What errand/chore do you despise? washing the dishes.

9. Have you found real love yet? certainly.

10. What do you get every time you go into Wal-Mart? I don't really shop at Wal-Mart.

11. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual? no!

12. What famous person would you like to have dinner with? Jesus. But, then I would be dead. But on earth, I would have to say... MckMama!

13. Ever had to use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose? thankfully, no.

14. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to go? erm... I don't know - San Diego? Beats me. I know nothing about Cali.

15. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or a new relationship? new career!!! Which.. I am going to.

16. Do you have a “go to” person? um, my husband?

17. Are you where you want to be in life? I would rather live with my husband, but I'm definitely where I want to be overall.

18. Over the years, what about you do you think has changed the most? my hair.

19. Looking back at high school were they the best years of your life? definitely not.

20. Are there times you still feel like a kid? yep!

21. Where was the hang out spot when you were a teenager? home.. or the band room?

22. Who do you think impacted your life the most? my sister, I guess.

23. Was there a teacher or authority figure that stood out for you? not really. I don't think I ever had any spectacular teachers.

24. Do you tell stories that start with “when I was your age”? haha no, but I should start!

25. What is the scariest thing that has happened to you as an adult? nearly dying in a plane this past weekend!

26. What advice would you give to someone about to get married? if you want real romance, have your husband join the military - that'll get the sparks flying! you two will be all over each other, and you will cherish every stinkin minute you have together! I promise.

but if you're not into that.. talk everything out. all the time. and never, EVER yell. ever. every disagreement has a solution. keep it cool!

27. What advice would you give someone starting their first job? quit your job and stay home for your kids. they will thank you later. and you will feel like you've done them justice as a parent.

erm. oh. first job? .. your first job will probably stink. good luck. that's all I have to say.

28. If you could go back and change one thing you did, what would it be? I would have studied a lot more. My only focus in high school was making All-State in band on clarinet. I never studied. Ever. I took easy-peasy classes so I could spend all my time practicing. I should have been studying so I could have gotten a completely free ride to college.

29. If you could go back and change one thing someone else did, what would it be? Can't think of anything. Seriously.

announcement:

I forgot to tell yall that I'm heading back to Texas to see Mark on June 19th.

I do realize this is in 3 weeks. We can't stay away from each other.

He's irresistible. What can I say?

21 days and counting, folks.

Yippie!

from C to M:

Dear Uncle Mark,

I miss you so much. I can't wait for you to come home from the Air Forrest! Dressing up like you is so much fun. When Shannie tells me to "stand at attention," I do this:

Shannie laughs, but I'm not sure why. I think I look tough!

And here's a salute to you, my fellow Airman!

thanks for the pins. They make me feel super cool.

I love my flash light.
It's best used as a sword. Try it out! It's fun!

I am patiently waiting until you come home.

I refuse to wear a t-shirt under my uniform.
I think that would look weird.
And I definitely prefer for my handsome chest to stick out a little.

I miss you, uncle.

Love,
Your nephew
