hubs.

This isn't PM, but this is what he did yesterday. He really loves it. I mean, I would hate this job. I would hate wearing long pants, a big old jacket, and heavy boots and then have to climb up a pole. Erm, yeah. I think I will stick to working with little kiddos. Indoors, preferably.

And here he is with his best friend:

Um, I think the lack of physical contact from his wife has caused PM to latch on to anything or anyone around.

Luckily, I will be there to snuggle him in 1.5 days. So then he won't be forced to grope mannequins anymore!

I found out today that American Airlines doesn't serve snacks. What is up with that? I find that to be a little outrageous. They also charge $15 to check one bag now. So, if you plan on flying anytime soon - go with Southwest. They stuff you til you could burst. Free refills on whatever drink you pick. AND you can check a bag with no charge. I mean, really. I would be flying Southwest, but Expedia didn't list it as an option. Argh!

I've ordered 169 photos from Shutterfly, so now I can delete all of my 1000+ pictures off of my Canon Rebel. I have to make room for this weekend's pictures, right?!

should I be embarrassed?

so I was looking at a map of the US, and I was shocked to find that Kentucky touches Virginia.

yep! I'm a college graduate. Should I be embarrassed? I really lack the skill of visualizing states in my head.

Then I decided to do a little bit more research about my new homeland, since I obviously need to. So I found the state song. And, I regretfully admit, their song way out-does Kentucky's! I especially like the corn and tatoes part. And "Virginny"? That's just really cute. Why don't we have a cute name for Kentucky? Like.. Tuckey. Or Something. Really now.

Carry me back to old Virginny,
There's where the cotton and the corn and tatoes grow,
There's where the birds warble sweet in the springtime,
There's where the old darke'ys heart am long'd to go,
There's where I labored so hard for old massa,
Day after day in the field of yellow corn,
No place on earth do I love more sincerely
Than old Virginny, the state where I was born.

CHORUS

Carry me back to old Virginny,
There's where the cotton and the corn and tatoes grow,
There's where the birds warble sweet in the springtime,
There's where this old darkey's heart am long'd to go.

Carry me back to old Virginny,
There let me live 'till I wither and decay,
Long by the old Dismal Swamp have I wandered,
There's where this old darke'ys life will pass away.
Massa and missis have long gone before me,
Soon we will meet on that bright and golden shore,
There we'll be happy and free from all sorrow,
There's where we'll meet and we'll never part no more.

The state drink is milk. And the state dance is the SQUARE DANCE!

I'm liking this state already.

It was brought to my attention that we will only be 2 short hours from Outer Banks, North Carolina! - Which is one of the top beaches on the east coast. Naturally, I'm already planning our first vacation. Or we could just drive to Outer Banks for the day, and then come back! But that doesn't seem as fun as renting a cute condo for the week.

And, hey, does anyone know why they say Virginia Is for Lovers? I don't get it. Am I missing some big joke?

No news on housing for us! But we've taken the initiative and have started looking on our own through a military housing website. We've found some apartments that we like. We've heard some bad things about Hampton. Like - never send your kid to a school in Hampton. But we don't have kids. There is supposedly a lot of crime in Hampton. So... we are looking at living in Yorktown or Newport News or Norfolk. The size of this whole area is about 3 Nashvilles! There are plenty of apartments; it's just a matter of finding them.

Of course, living in Hampton is much cheaper. It's just a less fancy part of the area & it has more crime. But the apartments are about $500 a month cheaper there. So... risk my life and save some cash? I don't know... I will let you know by the end of the summer!

In other news, I am only 2 days away from leaving for Sheppard Air Force Base. I've never traveled totally alone for an entire trip. So this will be... an adventure. I totally can't wait. You really have no idea. After this, I'll get to see PM once a month!! I can't even fathom it.

What's it like to live with your spouse, huh huh!!? I can't wait to find out!

Whew, we are CRAZY for each other! We are about to jump out of our skin. It's great!

Seriously, don't feel sorry for us for a second. This is one big adventure for us, and we're saving loads of money, AND we're moving to Virginny soon! And then we arrive, I will sing the song and belt out the verse about corn and tatoes. It will be fabulous. I can't wait to blog about it.

Monday Memories: The Beginning

flash back two years and you will find

a spunky librarian; she was so kind!

she loved her patrons, young and old

but in 3 short months, a prince she'd behold!

he was busy looking his best

and wore an old 70's vest

and then they met at church one morn'

and he caught her eye by his shoes that were worn

bright blue sneakers? Jesus sandals too?
(yep, that's C! as a toddler!)

he looked really popular, so she bid him adieu

but he kept winding up in her group each week

and her knees got all wobbly & he made her so week!

so they met at Barnes and Noble to "study" each night

and they were both nervous, but something felt right

he set up a picnic; his charm was alarming

it was then she just knew she had found her Prince Charming

And then what, you ask? Two weeks after we started dating, this is what we looked like:

um, yeah. Love. Cantcha see it on my face? Look harder. It's there!

alumni!

-after 52 classes
-and 132 credit hours
-with 29 hard-earned A's
-and 12 lazy B's
-and 4 hard-earned C's (stupid anatomy! and math!)
-and shamefully, 2 D's (math and economics aren't my strengths!)
-with, shockingly, 4 changes of majors (one which occurred 3 weeks ago...)
-and with a current GPA of 3.41 (without my SIX A's that I earned this semester! yes.. 18 hours of ALL A's, baby!! I try to make my hubby proud!!)

and 4 years

I'm now a College Graduate!

today I sat through one heckuva long ceremony. I didn't pay attention too much, because I was busy scouting the audience. and trying to wave to C, who, for the life of him, could not find me in the crowd of graduation caps.

boy, I really wish my husband could have been there. you have no idea.

but I am extremely glad to be done with my undergraduate degree. I'm not really glad to be done with WKU, per se, because it holds a special place in my heart. I mean, except for ginormous hill that sucks to walk up. and the expensive food. and how water stands in the roads because the pavement on campus is totally uneven. and mean, stinky teachers. you know, except for that.

so here I am. naturally.

and here I am, standing & getting recognized
for being an honor grad
woohoo, Cum Laude!

and here I am waiting to get my piece of paper with a ribbon tied around it

me and my lovely parents!

my sister!!!!!!!!!!!

I like to dress my nephews up as college graduates...

normally, I wouldn't allow this kind of thing, but....

it's my day & my cake, so go ahead, C!! dig in!

:D

I'm now a member of the Western Kentucky University Alumni, yall!

No official info about Old Dominion yet. Their website is pretty pathetic & it doesn't have a lot of information. I guess I'll figure it all out this summer. It's the last thing on my mind right now.

holy applesauce!

tomorrow I'll be wearing all black

can you guess why?!

nope. no one died.
nope. i'm not turning goth.
nope. i'm not trying to look skinny.

yes. itll be covered in black.
yes. the outfit is way too big.
yes. it's a weird material.
yes. i will feel like i'm wearing a curtain.

okayokay. you talked me into it. i'll just spill the beans.

i'm graduating COLLEGE tomorrow! can you believe it? because I sure can't!

so far only 5 out of 6 teachers have posted grades. and i currently have 5 A's.

tomorrow is my graduation party. obviously, Mexican food will be included. have no fear - many pictures will be taken. i'm excited to see what my final GPA will be when i leave WKU. i'll be posting that exciting new information soon!

..if my teachers would ever hurry it up and post grades already!! did they not get the memo? summer is here. also, i took one of my finals over a week and a half ago. and still no grade. seriously. what is the hold up?

i'm totally not looking forward to actually participating in the graduation ceremony. but i ammm excited about getting the heck done with my bachelors degree. even if, you know, it isn't what i meant to get my degree in. whoops!

what's PM up to?

Oh, he's up, alright! Up high on poles, that's what!
...and he's also down low, in a manhole.. & looking rather hott and sexy, if I might add...

and I bet you'd be making comments on your husband's looks if you were separated for 4 months... boy, we can't WAIT to be reunited in FIVE days!
