a message to Nor'Easter:

Dear Nor'Easter, go away
I'm sick of all your rain
You're making Mark work at night
and it's really becoming a pain

Another 12 hour shift?
Blah, Please poke me in the eye
Dear Nor'Easter, I hate you so
I hope you dry up and die

Now you've made us lose our weekend
and you've taken one step too far
If I could, I'd guarantee that
I would run you over with our car

Do you think it's funny?
You're making everything run amuck
Dear Nor'Easter, I hate you
and I really think you suck

  1. Eeep. I saw the photo/video on your fb (through my mom's). How crazy!

  2. eh, it's really annoying.. They keep making Mark work 12s and he keeps having to go in at midnight. So he comes home at noon and is exhausted :\ It's just really stinky. Plus, we've basically lost our entire weekend, and I bet they make him go to work Monday as usual.. so he won't get a break at ALL. Not fair :[ I really miss him. He's upstairs sleeping right now.. I feel really bad for him.

  3. The last three lines are my favorite!! You're so great!! And uber-creative! I love it!!!

P.S I had a dream last night and you were in it. You, Christine, me and some other people were hanging out watching a movie. Random. =)

  4. Yeah, stinky indeed. I really didn't like it when Chris worked 12-hour third shifts a few years ago. Not worth it. Too bad Mark doesn't have an option, though. Chris just found another job.

  5. It won't last long -- he normally works a regular 8:30-4 shift, and he loves it. It's just annoying to have to switch from a regular shift to an all-nighter, and then back again. I couldn't do it, that's for sure!

  6. I thought the storm had moved out. What does he have to do now? I love your talent for writing. Mom

  7. sorry to be a downer but its the Air Force :( my husband has worked 12's for the past 4 months and also works weekends he get maybe a wed or thur off but thats it. we dont know what a weekend is :( just a way to looks at your situation and think its not soo bad. you lucky :) cheer up ;)

  8. hehehe! I love this!! P.S...this is Erin Carson from fbook :-) And someone *always* says they have it worse don't they?? you're always the lucky one. hahahaha...geez.

  9. hahaha geez i was just stating that if she cant take this that shes not gonna survive being an AF wife for very long. she should cherish the time she has know and me happy its just a 12 hour shift her and there and a few weekends ever now and then. i love to read her blogs im not trying to be an ass. It just got to me a little when she was complaining about a few 12's and a few weekends. i dont hink she understands what is yet to come and how good she has it so far. thats all.

  10. Well, if you're going to criticize me, at least have the guts to make an account and show me your name. This is my blog, so I'll complain if I want to. Just because I chose to make a poem about my husband working annoying 12-hour shifts (and switching from 6am-4pm today with ZERO notice), it doesn't have anything to do with me "surviving" as an AF wife. Ridiculous. I know, I know -- I'm sure you've endured much worse, whoever you are. But if I want to make a funny poem about our flooding situation, I will :) It's the beauty of having a personal blog.

  11. ps: direct quote from my husband:

Mark Cox Wants to punch a physical form of hurricane Ida. Sandbagging and cleanup is not what I wanted to do this weekend.

what, is he "not going to survive" as an Airman now because he's complaining? :)

  13. AMEN shannon and Tara! I love you girls! It's perfectly healthy to complain!

  14. "And the people complained in the hearing of the LORD about their misfortunes, and when the LORD heard it, his anger was kindled, and the fire of the LORD burned among them and consumed some outlying parts of the camp" (Num. 11:1)

For those who would suggest that complaining is a healthy and good thing I say, consider the Word of God. We should be very careful to grumble before the Lord, for such is always displeasing to Him. It is certainly true that we are all guilty of chronic complaining about something, but that certainly does not make it right.

Praise the Lord who gives and has given you your very life. Also, does He not create and control the weather? To despise a hurricane, avalanche, or summer down pour is just as if you despised the Lord. For those of us who are HIs, we should be thankful even for our sufferings (Rom. 5:3), for indeed they are for His glory.

I love you and your husband and we are always praying for you two. It is our desire to see you both grow and cherish the Lord more fully. Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Love.

  15. It was just supposed to be a funny poem. And I wasn't even complaining. I was making light of the situation through humor. I definitely have complained about my situation before, but this post was not an example of me complaining. This post was me trying to make light of Mark getting NO sleep, having to miss church due to work, and switching from 8-4 to 12-12 to 6-7pm to 6-12 over the course of the last 5 days.

  16. Oh, err -- that makes me look insensitive to his needs. But he thought it was hilarious :) He loved it.
