new lens & a movie

Mark and I really love and enjoy photography. I especially love photographing my two favorite children on the face of this earth (C&H), but I also love photographing our dog. And, sometimes, we love photographing each other.

We just got our new lens (50mm f/1.8) last week, and we love it! It's crisp, clean, and blurs backgrounds with ease.

We have a lot of fun upcoming events that will truly put this lens to the test! Thanksgiving is coming up, and we cannot wait. That's actually an understatement. We are very very very very excited!

----------------------------------------

In other news, we saw New Moon last night! We ventured to our favorite spot: the Cinema Cafe, where order actual meals and sit in the theater. We really loved the movie. It couldn't have been any better. I'm currently trying to talk Mark into going to see it again!! He hasn't read any of the series, yet he loves the movies. So you know it's good if my big, strong Airmen loves them!

I do believe I'll be re-reading Eclipse soon! I just adore Edward, Jacob & Bella! If you've never read this series, I highly recommend it. I know it sounds stupid (vampires and werewolves and love?) but it's along the same line as Harry Potter. Good always wins, and it's beautiful! Check it out!!

Discussion: While reading the book, I was always on "Team Edward" and felt like Jacob was in the way and slightly annoying. But after seeing the movie, dagumit, now I feel like I'm halfway on Team Jacob now! Did anyone else experience this!? I mean, I was sitting in my seat just begging Bella to pick Jacob (even if it's only for a little while) even though I knew she wouldn't (duh). I saw an interview on TV saying that they're already finished with filming Eclipse..!? If so, yahoo! I can't wait! Oh -- I also am seriously looking forward to the "pillow scene" that will appear in the 4th movie. If you know what I mean.

  1. Totally clueless about the movie and book stuff, but the new lens is neat! We really need to get a *good* camera and a few good lenses, because we're going to be taking pictures of BB left and right!

  2. This lens was only $100 on Amazon, and it's the one that MckMama uses a lot. But she edits all her pictures with Lightroom & Photoshop, and we don't do that. You can get a Canon Rebel XTi for pretty cheap on Amazon too! :)

  3. I never thought about Amazon! Are they used or new? What a great idea! I'm going to look now! We were thinking about getting one from Best Buy a while ago when we got our residuals from this semester...I don't know why we didn't! Maybe we can get one with our tax return. :)

  4. Oh definitely! You can get new or used on amazon, but I bet you already saw that by now! :) you will really like having one, and it will be so fun playing photoshoot with BB! I forget when tax money even comes in..but if you turn in your forms early, you'll get the money back before April, right? I hope so! I hope you get one before birth day! It will be great!!

  6. Well, first let me start with the lens since that's what you started with. I LOVE IT. I'm getting so giddy about the thought of owning the very same camera. I'm just so excited. And let me say this: your husband, dog, and you are beautiful, beautiful specimen. That is all.

Now, NEW MOON. AHHHH. I went to see it today and basically loved it soooo much. I can't wait to own this one. =)

I was definitely team Edward too while reading the book. But I think I had a little more sympathy for Jacob than I did in watching the movie tonight. I think it's because in the book they spend so much more time on it and how she really feels about him---and on the hand holding and the talking and hugging and body temperature and closeness....I felt like, in the book, she did him wrong. Whereas in the movie, it seemed like it wasn't played up as much so it was harder to be sympathetic. But being able to actually SEE them together made me feel bad for him. And since the focus of New Moon isn't on Edward, it's easy to get caught up in TJ (team jacob). I just keep thinking about, like you said, the pillow scene the the last book---and how can you NOT be team Edward?!

I want to re-read them, too. Because New Moon was my least favorite book, so words cannot describe how ready I am to get on to the next movies. ESPECIALLY the last one (which I believe should be 2 movies).

OH, and did I mention that I was IN ITALY and so I loved the movie even more?! Yeah. Ok. =)

  7. OMG! The last movie will be incredible. I am super anxious for the pillow scene. It will be the highlight of Edward's career. I say "Edward's career" bc in real life he's kinda a doofus with greasy hair. But, you know. Anyway. I totally agree w/ everything you said. New Moon was my least favorite, as well. Ahh! I'm soooo excited! And also excited for you to get your NEW CAMERA! Thrilling!

  8. I agree...Jacob could be kinda annoying at times in the book but in the movie I totally wanted Bella to kiss him! Who could resist someone as good-looking as him?!

  9. idk what she was thinking. really. no offense to Edward, but he DID leave her. And Jacob has ALWAYS been so sweet. Like, he is unbelievably sweet. Plus, Edward has caused some serious pain on Bella's part. Jacob never has! Well, except when he disappeared to turn into a wolf, but that wasn't his fault. I wish she would have had a little fling with Jacob. He's so great! :( Poor him!

  10. Yup, before April. It just depends on when we get our forms from our places of employment as to how long we have to wait to file them. I only have 2 and Chris only has 2, so hopefully we'll get them FAST. Even if not, we'll definitely get the return before BB is born. :)

  11. Yeah, I was real bitter that Edward left her, even if it was supposed to be this sweet "I can't hurt you" type deal. The only momentary lapse of "team edward" came when Jacob, Edward, and Bella are in the woods together and Jacob's like--but you DID leave her. BAM. Jacob never did. So Jacob-1, Edward-0 (unless you count all of the first book and the last book----which gives Edward like 948023980508)
