I ran upstairs (literally), did my thing, and there it was:
A beautiful pink line! I screamed for Mark to come upstairs.
Me: Do you see a line?!?! Do you!?!?
Mark: Yes!! There it is!! We're going to have a baby!!!
I couldn't believe it -- only 8 days past ovulation, at night, we found out about our precious little miracle. In other words, we found out at 3 weeks 1 day pregnant. Most people find out at 5 weeks.
So how have I been feeling? Ehh. No vomiting, and my nausea is not too bad. I feel yucky pretty often throughout the day. I also have serious trouble eating. Nothing sounds good, and I have to force food down my throat. Meat is pretty repulsive to me, so I try to stick to things like cereal, potatoes, salad, and.. strangely, pizza. Nothing else sounds even remotely appetizing.
(Mark just brought home fried chicken, and I gave it all to him. Including my biscuit!)
It's been rough keeping you all in the dark about our miracle baby, but I've been documenting a lot with my Belly Book and my scrapbook -- and, of course, pictures:
7 weeks
Pumpkin Seed is due around October 15, 2010. I've not yet been to the doctor, because they don't see you until 8 weeks. I had an appointment scheduled for today, but my midwife came down with the flu. Sigh. So my appointment has been moved to this coming Monday -- I'll be 9 weeks 3 days. Hopefully we will get an ultrasound to see our little gummy bear bouncing around!
Our baby is already so, so loved. And we are extremely ecstatic about being parents to this little babe! I definitely already have a "feeling" as to whether or not Pumpkin is a boy or a girl, but I'll keep that to myself for now!
For now, I'm just resting, taking my prenatals, staying away from deli meat and hot dogs, and enjoying every ache, pain, and twinge of pregnancy. We really wanted and prayed for this child, so we are cherishing every little instant of this.
This is NOT our baby or ultrasound, but it's close to
what our Pumpkin Seed would look like at this point:

Ps. Did you notice in my previous video that Clayton looked a little "dazed" ?? It's because... He was! I had JUST told him that I had a baby in my belly, and he was a little shell shocked. I'm not even sure if he knew what he was saying. Too funny! Later that week, I brought up Baby Cox again, and he said, "You're having a baby?!?" like it was news to him! Hilarious. I'm sure he'll be a great Big Cousin, especially if Baby Cox is a girl -- Clayton loves baby girls!
YAY! Congratulations Shannie! That's fantastic news!

ReplyDeleteof course you can call (s)he punkin! I probably will too -- especially if it's a boy. Right now, I call our baby: Pumpkin, Pumpkin Seed, Sharkie, Punkin, Gummy Bear, and Baby :)
ReplyDeleteMark doesn't have a name for our child, I don't think. Ha! I think he just says "the baby"
Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteI've been praying for you too!! And I've had this sneaky little suspicion that you were, too, seeing all the little things you tweet. I'm very happy for you guys! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteToo Awesome! Congratulations on your blessing. Now, can you send some that my way?

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Mark and Shannon....that is a lucky little gal/guy to be getting parents like you all! Shannon...keep eating ....try to force yourself to eat something during these first few weeks of 'yuck,' ...I "ate" through my morning (or all day sickness) with our 2nd instead of protesting food (like I did with Sydney)...and it worked out much better! (also gained 5 more lbs, but oh well!)
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you guys!
Jessica (and Jeff)
