starting tomorrow:

As of tomorrow, I'm starting Weight Watchers. I won't be attending any meetings, but I'll be posting every bite of food that I eat on my blog.

Sounds a little extreme, doesn't it? Well, desperate times call for desperate measures. I haven't gained that much weight or anything, but I'd like to hold myself accountable for what I eat. And this is my blog, so I'm choosing to blog about this because it's important to me. No negative feedback, please. No one needs negative feedback or criticism when they're trying to watch what they eat.

Don't worry -- my blogs won't be all about food. I'll continue blogging as usual, but I'll include a list of foods eaten at the bottom of each post. Encourage me! It will be fun!


...I mean, as fun as snacking on grapes and eating frozen dinners can be. Which isn't very fun at all, in reality. I'll also weigh myself each morning and publicly announce my weight to the world.

PS. This will only last a week. I'm betting that I can lose 5 pounds in 1 week if I stick to my guns. And my guns are big, so watch out. Bwhahahaha....


OH, and my current Body Mass Index is 22.8 -- smack dab in the middle of Average.

BMI Categories:

  • Underweight = <18.5
  • Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
  • Overweight = 25-29.9
  • Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

    BUT OMG is that BMI calculator accurate?! If it is there are some SERIOUS changes that are going to happen in our house, NOW!

  2. I think so! I've been using it for years! It gives the same percentage as other websites.. BUT I've read that BMI isn't the best number to go by, since it doesn't measure fat VS muscle. Like, you could be totally muscular.. but since muscle is heavy, it would "think" that was just fat.

    Does that make sense?

    But I have, like, no muscle. Ha. So that doesn't apply to me! :)

So i never really comment on your blog, but just some words of advice & encouragement, (p.s. this is amanda) if you don't want to gain any of your weight back ever (until your pregnant which will be good weight gain of course :)) what you eat & your exercising habits should be a permanent change. About 90 % of dieters gain their weight back in less than a year because they only change their diet or exercise routine for a short time. Also, it's not healthy to lose more than 2 pounds a week (if you do it's usually either muscle you're losing -which you can't really get back- or water weight). And make sure you weigh yourself at the same time, but I think you said you were going to do that.
    Sorry for such a long post, sometimes I get over concerned with peoples health. haha Guess that's why it's my major!

  4. Yes, you can do it! Look at what you did before your wedding! :D

    Also, I think you're right about the BMI thing. Except, I thought you were supposed to do, like, 3 different tests to get an accurate BMI? I'm not sure.

    Anyway, you don't think snacking on grapes is fun?! MMM, grapes are YUMMY! I actually had some as a snack today myself! :)

  5. Ya'll are making me want some grapes now! Yeah no muscle here either...and very little on my husband and he is on a dangerous end of that scale. Which I sorta knew but seeing it in black and white really puts it into perspective! Thanks for the motivation :)

  6. yes, there are 3 different ways to find out your BMI.. I THINK there's the water weight and the "fat-pincher" thingy. They do the water BMI at Preston, and the fat-pincher thing squeezes your fat in 3 places. I think. I've not done the water one, but I have had the fat-pincher one done professionally. Yep!

  7. You can do it, Shannon. I've lost 11 pounds in the past month just by cutting back the calories and working out. It's amazing to me the results that have happened!

    No negative feedback from me. I totally understand, lady! Good luck! Know I'll be dieting right along with you!

    Oh, and I don't know if you like Starbucks or not, but a tall skinny caramel latte only has 90 calories! That's my breakfast most mornings!
